Magic door

The friends were staring at the slope, but all they could see was sand.

“Grassie,  are  you  sure  it’s  the right place?  You  must  have mixed up something. There is no door here.”

Grassie scooped up a handful of water and splashed it on the sand. There appeared a door corner. She splashed again and again, and before her friends’ amazed eyes a real door became visible, and it even had a doorknob. Daisy went over to the door and pulled the knob. The door would not open.

“What are we going to do now? It will not open.”

“Step aside, I’ll try to open it myself,” and Grassie quickly started saying the words the Nixie had taught her.

There’s a pebble in my hand

To be thrown on the sand.

Open, doors, you are to mind me,

Let me in and close behind me.

Cheerie-cheerie, twist and turn,

To this spot I will return.
